The Department of Medical Sciences served as the initial nucleus for medical education under the "University of Departments" in Gharyan, established by Decree No. (15) of 1999. Following this, Decree No. (219) of 2000 and Decree No. (351) of 2003 were issued, officially transforming the institution into the Faculty of Human Medicine at Al-Jabal Al-Gharbi University. Subsequently, Decree No. (19) of 2017 was issued, establishing its current identity as the Faculty of Human Medicine / University of Gharyan.
