Scientific symposium to mark World AIDS Day
The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Gharyan organised a scientific symposium on the occasion of World AIDS Day, as part of its efforts to raise health awareness and promote medical knowledge about the disease and ways to prevent it.
The seminar was attended by the Director of Health Services in Gharyan, the Director of the Gharyan Branch of the Centre for Disease Control, and a group of distinguished guests from various medical and paramedical specialties and other interested parties. A number of faculty members and students also participated in the seminar, which featured scientific lectures focusing on the definition of AIDS, early diagnosis mechanisms, modern treatment options, and the importance of reducing the social stigma associated with the disease.
The highlight of the seminar was a lecture by Dr. Abdulnabi Al-Rais entitled:
"AIDS: What You Need to Know." Dr. Mohammed Mahna also participated with a lecture on social responsibility in combating AIDS.
The symposium also addressed the role of health and educational institutions in raising awareness within the community, in addition to emphasising the role of students and medical personnel in spreading a culture of prevention.
The symposium concluded with an open discussion session that addressed scientific questions and practical observations from the audience, with recommendations to increase awareness activities and strengthen cooperation between medical colleges and health institutions in this field.
