The Faculty of Medicine celebrates International Day Against Drug Abuse with an educational seminar
As part of its participation in global events to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs, the Faculty of Medicine organised a special event on Sunday, 29 June 2025, to mark International Day Against Drug Abuse. The event was attended by a select group of faculty members, students and guests from various government and private sectors, under the slogan "Breaking the Chains: Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery."
The event included scientific presentations by a number of faculty members, students, and visiting professors, addressing various aspects of the scourge of drugs from medical, psychological, social, and legal perspectives, in addition to local and global statistics on their prevalence and impact on individuals and society.
The presentations also highlighted common types of drugs and methods of prevention and treatment, as well as the role of educational institutions in raising awareness among university students.
The event was met with widespread positive interaction from the audience, with an open discussion and questions, which contributed to the enrichment of the seminar. The organisers of the event emphasised that such initiatives are part of the college's responsibility to promote health and community awareness and encourage students to actively participate in national and global issues related to public health.
